Túr Aonghus
Tur Aonghus is a contemporary side table that explores the intersection of traditional craftsmanship and modern digital fabrication. Drawing inspiration from medieval Scottish design language and shared cultural heritage, the project reinterprets ornamental woodworking through a refined, structural lens. By combining natural hardwood with precision-machined aluminium, the piece challenges minimalist conventions and instead celebrates weight, detail, and material contrast.
Furniture Design

Using CAD software, the design was progressively simplified to reduce component count while maintaining the visual heaviness associated with traditional forms.
The final design features a CNC-machined hardwood structure paired with waterjet-cut aluminium inlays and milled aluminium posts. Material selection was driven by durability, cost efficiency, and visual contrast: glacial oak provides warmth and longevity, while aluminium introduces precision and a contemporary edge.
